A4000T Questions ...
« on: April 06, 2008, 02:52:47 PM »
Hi everyone, there's an old saying, 'Those the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad...'
Well, I thought my A1200 Tower was dying.. my original HDD died, and a replacement HDD didn't seem to work....
Well, I ordered an A4000T system from a guy in Kansas, of course, now my A1200T now seems to work fine :) OK, so I'm getting an A4000T,
some questions: From what I know, this machine has a Toaster/Flyer/TBC in it (grr, the guy sold the PAR card..). I know the Toaster needs a video slot, what about the Flyer? Could I get a graphics card and use it in the second video slot with the Toaster still installed? Second, I was told that this has a HD floppy, it means I have a Commodore-made unit, right? I use a PC floppy drive on my A1200T with a 'partially twisted' cable (two signals reversed on the cable) , can this be done with the A4000T, as well? What type of connector is the ext. SCSI?

Many thanks for any help....

Edit: anyone know if the version of Genesis that comes with OS 3.9 will work with OS3.1? Anyone using a Toaster/Flyer setup under OS 3.9?? Anything I should watch out for on an A4000T? Sorry for all the questions...  :-)

Boot_WB: Wow, thanks... super-quick reply! Well, pretty sure it has the disk module, the seller said only that the ext. SCSI connector was '50-pin' , just no mention whether it was HD or not. Just have to get a HD50 to DB-25 converter from SCSISource for my other 'bits'. Thanks again, Marc

Hi everyone, Well I got the beast today. Disk module is there, and it's an Amiga Technologies model.

Kin-Hell: no worries about the OT bits , if your offer about the 8MB SIMMS still stands, I may take you up on it...

 :-D
This machine has 64MB on the CyberStorm card, anyone know if I could max. it to 128MB without too much hassle (space issues with the Toaster/Flyer, etc.)

Now, the slightly disappointing bits....
I didn't get a TBC with my A4K tower, or a PAR card. And for the life of me, I don't know how I could cram them in this thing.
If anyone has a PAR card or TBC for sale, let me know.
