Opinion: Why TV fears the Apple iBroadcast 'revolution'

I have not owned a 'TV' in a decade. I see traditional TV as archaic as using a mangle to do my laundry. I watch a lot of TV shows, though; the ones I want to watch, when I want to watch them, and I can watch them from anywhere I have wi-fi. I download them the day they're transmitted, in HD. Some are crap, and they get deleted, others are good enough that they earn a place on my external HD.

 
Why do you think the big uk players have so much on demand content now.  I love beiong able to watch live telly on my iphone provided by sat supplier, but you cant beat watching hd content or playing xbox on a large telly

CritAnime: Really? That's outrageous. I was born, bred and still live in the UK. I've never paid the BBC's TV tax - despite numerous toothless spam mail threatening to imprison me.

Well done you.  Does the make you feel all warm inside. The BBC provides a decent wealth of both TV and Radio services.  I think the TV licence is very reasonable and I for one am glad we have got the BBC

Hmmm, so what happens when you do need to use the services? I bet youd be straight on the dole queue to get assistance!
And have you never watched any television ever? Read a news article? Listened to a radio?
Have you any idea how much of the modern techie stuff you so enjoy was pushed by the bbc and tax payers money?

I would guess he is the sort of person who thinks he should get everyhting for free. Looking at those comment he is obviously also a daily mail reading hate spreader

Services like iTunes and the like have actually helped the smaller lables who do develop talent and who share a decent amount of the sales directly with the artist.

Quick couple of points.   A lot of our television is free but is full of advertising.  The BBC provides advertising free broadcasts.
 
The also provvide a wealth of extra service and are the reason in the 80s that so mnay schools had a computer education broadcast.
 
Another point is that the BBC is respected around the world for un-biased, factual news reporting.  Have you ever watched Fox news, I couldn't tell the differencce to that and the onion.
