After my first post, I was called a troll. Ironically, I responded to the accusation of being a troll (by repeating the original message) which actually appeared to some like i was an actual troll. Ironically.
Americans do have a reputation of not getting Irony. For instance, rain on your wedding day is not ironic - that's just bad luck.
There is the point that the song is not american , given that the writer/singer is canadian.
But that song does not contain one single piece of Irony.
