Amiga Life in The Philippines!
« on: September 10, 2016, 04:33:05 AM »
Hello Fellow Amigans!
Recently, my local Amiga 1200 friend and I tried locating other Amigans in the Philippines. My friend has an old, broken, yet operational Amiga 1200 in his home and has a friend that he helped install AmigaOS 3.9 on their PC.
Unless someone corrects me, I am the only licensed user of Amiga Forever, AmigaOS 4.1 FE and MorphOS in the Philippines! At first, I thought that was something to brag about. But, in reality, my only support for my AmigaOS hobby is through an unstable Internet connection.
I'm NOT an Amigan Geek!
Being the only guys with a "stronghold" of emulated Amiga systems in the Philippines has NO ADVANTAGES!
I was an Amiga 500 geek back in 1988, but I had forgotten all of it.
Nowadays, I can only experience AmigaOS under emulation with very old hardware.
The Philippine Economy...
Basically, the bottom line is, the Amiga computer has no place in the Philippines. It is impossible to get local Philippine people interested in AmigaOS, yet alone, an Amiga computer. NONE of the local used computer shops have any Amiga hardware, 99.99% never heard of Amiga. Every once in awhile, a pirate shop would have an old copy of Amiga Forever, being sold only for the games.
I'm a Transplant Amigan...
For almost 10 years, I have been living in the Philippines. I grew up in Northwestern United States, but was absent from Amiga scene from 1990 (to 2012).
Any other Amigans in the Philippines?
I hope there are others besides my Amiga 1200 friend and I...

I had an Amiga 500 from 1988-1990 and became an Amiga geek...
...but I can\'t remember how I did it.
No, I\'m not a gamer.
