It always astonishes me that someone could have a collection like that, and *not* be active or known in the forums.  I guess they must've really been some kind of recluse.  Also, +1 for the batteries probably being toast.

I find the big shame to be not so much the equipment but the knowledge which is held separate.  Honestly, while none of us have a requirement or responsibility to share knowledge with each other, I bet there is a lot of untapped knowledge and experience out there.

Didn't he also list it on Amibay?

My .02 cents, either some nutjob came along and gave him an offer within his price range, or we'll start seeing a lot of these end up on fleabay soon.
