When you plug in a USB device it should give you some kind of notification on this screen (see attached screenshots).

Are you getting anything in the log at all?  You may want to start with reinstalling Poseidon from Jen's site, now that you've got all the BB's and other stuff installed.

Note that I've found some devices that just don't work at all - one particular model of USB mouse from Microsoft that's common around my office, amusingly enough.  But Dell, HP, other brands of mice and keyboards should all work fine, and flash drives / external storage devices, once you get FAT95 installed & configured.  :)

Did you connect the auxiliary power cable?

One more thing - is something wrong with the color on your monitor?  That "online" indicator should be green, not black.  (of course, maybe it's just my screen here, lol.)

The card did not include any auxiliary power cable. RR is just plug in the X-SURF 100 and the network seated in the Zorro card. The light in the RRshines brightly white.

Bah, you got tricked into buying the X-Surf 100 model, not the clockport model.  ;)  http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/rapidroad

Difference is that that the clockport model works on an A1200, also (if you ever decide to move it), and includes the auxiliary power cable, which is recommended even in big-box systems if using power-hungry devices.  I installed it right off the bat in mine, since i knew at minimum I'd be using at least a hub.  Extra power never hurts, right?  ;)

Wow, I completely forgotten I'd tried to write a review of this card, until my own review came up in a google search results.  ;)  http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=68444

TL;DR.  Reinstall Poseidon if nothing is showing up in the log (see my previous screenshots).

The instructions for X-Surf 100 say that Rapidshow would not work with this card.....???

I could never get Roadshow to work to save my life, but I'm probably just a big dummy.  Plenty of folks have it working with the X-Surf 100.

The GUI interface in Miami is great, too bad it's sloooow compared to Roadshow, and Holger Kruse is such a %(*%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!(#.  :roflmao:

So what you're saying is, when you plug in any USB device, you're getting absolutely no activity at all in the logs?

Looking at the manual, it's also saying you should use the additional power connector:

Quote
Adding extra power
RapidRoad can deliver up to 1.5 amps of power to each of the two USB ports. That's three
times the specified power of a normal USB port, so it should be enough for very power-hungry
devices.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to draw this amount of power from the Zorro slot only. If you
are not using an active (powered) USB hub for such power-hungry devices, you should make a
direct connection to your power supply with one of the floppy-power connectors. You can use
any of the two white power connectors of RapidRoad.

Light on the RapidRoad is definitely white, right?  It looks red in your photo...

AFAIK not much Amiga "Scout-like" software can really detect the RapidRoad (and other software mis-detects the X-Surf 100 as some generic serial board), but what do you see in these two programs?

SACC has a good point. Is that a Zorro 2 memory board? Have you tried with all other cards removed?

Nice one, guys! It's stuff like this that really makes me miss user groups. I'm sure if you locked all of us into a room together we could have figured this out about 20 comments ago, lol.

Now, if someone can give a little bit of help in modifying the jumper(s). I have never touch jumpers in a computer board or card.

Just one jumper, clearly marked.  See the pic I added to my post right above yours.  ;)

@Oldsmobile_Mike Do you have a larger picture of the jumper settings?

Aaah, ya killing me now, man.  ;)  I just googled that picture, but seriously, there's only one jumper, just put it on.  :D

Here ya go, a bigger picture I found.  Granted, it's upside-down, but still.  ;)

I see what it is: Changing the ScreenMode to a lower res but 32 colors shows the light in green. I'm using NTSC Hire Res Laced but that only goes up to 16 colors.

No graphics card?  You're going to be stuck with a maximum of 16 colors if you want to run your Workbench at 640x400 / 640x512.  No greens left in your palette?  Now is the time you want to research the FullPalette program and the Rebel palette.

I'll just leave this excellent blog entry here for you to read and study at your leisure:

http://www.mfilos.com/2012/01/guide-making-workbench-prettier-using.html

Also you're going to want the Peter K. icon library:  http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/IconLib_46.4

(more info on that, as well as later test versions, here:  http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=64079)

...now be prepared to spend the next 904857945687 hours customizing your Workbench.  I've been doing mine for over 25 years and it still ain't perfect, yet.  ;)

Please tell me more about that Mediator and Radeon card solution.

You have a 3000 in a desktop chassis, right?  You'll need one of these:

http://www.elbox.com/products/mediator_pci_3000di.html

Haven't seen one for sale in a while, but you might get lucky.  You could always try asking on Amibay, etc.

Once you have one of those then you can use any of the compatible PCI graphics cards, which are much easier (comparatively) to come by than a native Amiga graphics card.  ;)

Picasso 2 is Zorro 2 only.  I'd say a Spectrum, PIV, or CV64... of course with the exception of the Spectrum, those all go for over $500, when you can even find one.  :(

Don't forget!
He had to drop to zorro 2 because of his 040 card!

Thinking about, I would like to find a Picasso2 Plus card myself.

Personally I'd ditch that '040 card like a hot potato and get a model that's compatible with Zorro 3 - either a different '040, or an '060.  But that's just me, I don't know OP's budget.  ;)

I had two Picasso 2's and didn't like them much, but that was only because I couldn't get their pass-through to work with an Indivision.  AFAIK it should work fine with the A3K's build-in HD15 output.

Never could find a PII+, GVP Spectrum is the bee's knees, however.  Does Z 2 and Z 3, so if he could find one of those he could run it in 2 now, and flip it to 3 when he gets a real accelerator.  Sorry OP, that's another jumper you're going to have to flip, though!

Mike,
the 3640 is completely compatible with zorro3, its not that, its Jens cards!

using the x-surf 100 on zorro2 wont likely be that much difference in speed since zorro2 is still capable of 3.5MB/s max and i dont think x-surf hits that zII or in zIII mode(i could be wrong here?)

Haha, I know, I'm just not a fan of the 3640, especially in desktop 3000's. ;)

RapidRoad gets 6+ MB/sec in ZIII, 2-3MB/sec in ZIII, and around 700k/sec on clockport. That's based on reading various reviews, my experiences, etc. Your mileage may vary! ;)
