Can you confirm that the monitor works with any other device?  VCR, cable box, camcorder, etc.?

It's unclear from your post, are you confident that the A600 is working correctly?  Have you tested it with any other types of display?

First step is to isolate & troubleshoot to rule out whether it's the A600, the cable, or the monitor.  Good luck!

Was the monitor shipped to you?  These old monitors are really, really fragile.  I've seen more than one get damaged by UPS/FedEx/etc.  Best bet would be to try it with some other kind of device, anything with composite output should serve to test.

LOL.  Those buttons on the back of a 1084 can be tricky.  Doesn't help that there's a dozen different models of "1084" and no two of them are the same!  

I dunno on the last bit.  If you say it needs a special tool, use the special tool?  Most of them just have fiddly knobs, though.

Or rather than adjust the picture on a CRT ( a common problem with CRTs) just buy another one with another fault; then you can wave your magic wand, click your red sparkling heels together three times while saying, "I wish I were home," and POOF! The two different problematic monitor will be merged into ONE!

I was gonna say he should wave his magic wand around right to the store and buy himself an Indivision and use a modern monitor, but some people in this day and age still like dealing with CRT's (and all their associated issues), LOL.
