The VXL*30 has a ROM socket on it (on it's RAM board).  I have one.  You can switch between the ROM on the motherboard or the ROM on the VXL.  That might do "crazy* things on an A1000, don't have an A1000 to try it with, or it might be a sneaky way to bypass the A1000 not having a built-in ROM?  Hummmm...  :idea:
