I think most of the GVP cards map their memory into 32-bit address space, but I seem to recall this first generation of cards used the 16-bit space. I could be wrong. ;) You should be able to get that info through SysInfo, just look where it's mapped? Also the boot issue might be the typical "slow drive spin-up" issue that affects a lot of Amiga's.  Hope that helps a little! :)
