What is the status of QuakeII on Amiga?
« on: January 13, 2004, 02:01:13 PM »
Recently I found out that to one of the Polish PC magazines was added the full version of QuakeII.
Because it costed 2 USD I thought that I can purchase myself with not pirate copy of data files.

Unluckilly QuakeI doesn't know what to do with QuakeII data files.

As I've head ID software released the sources to public, so I was expecting PD port for Amiga (combining Amiga graphics procedures taken from QuakeI together with more advanced QuakeII engine math should be implementable). But I couldn't find the sources on ID software website (I couldn't find sources for QuakeI also).

I was so dissapointed to find only one link to Amiga port of QuakeII, which actually led to the site 'file not found on the server'.

I've read that QuakeII was released by Hyperion, however I found only HereticII on their website, with description that it is used on QuakeII engine.

As I own rights to use legal data from QuakeII and that QuakeII sources are released to public - is there any place to find executable, and if not - for what reason?

I guess lempkee knows the answer.
He knows all the answers.  ;-)

Hello haymiggan.

Today I've taken from my mailbox nice package with two 128 MB SIMM sticks. :-)
Bought on Polish auction site.
However I have to test if they work at all...

Cheers

Oh, just rechecked the actual licence, and yes I could hand out as much copies
of the exe as I want, aslong as I also provide (a way to) the sources.

Hmm... What do you mean by 'I could hand as many copies of exe'?
Could it mean 'to someone who has data without exe?'

I wouldn't mind sources. It would be interesting to have it even. I managed to find original QII sources (link to ID software website - surprize, surprize. Why it is so hard to find? At least for me...)

By the way - say good bye to old PiR, short of memory.
Welcome PiR supreme with his SIMM sockets filled to the maximum. Who could imagine that Helwett Packard is Amiga hardware supplier afterall?  :-D
And I still cannot belive how did I manage to close the box (DESKTOP :-o) with all the screws :-o :-o and without removing floppy drive :-o :-o :-o ... I don't belive it is just by accident. It just had to be designed like so that everything could fit with a little force... :-D My machine is really hot now. And I mean HOT.  8-)
