Amiga CD32 garbage video?
« on: August 22, 2014, 12:44:04 PM »
So, the video pretty much shows what its doing... there's also a  clicking noise through the tv speakers, but I don't think its actually  anything the CD32 is trying to play.

The colours almost look like the CD32 boot screen to me, but that could just me being optimistic :p

Any ideas?

Thanks!

(the CD32 was turned on and left on for this video)

Since making the video, I've pulled the kickstart chip, and no longer get any colours (just a black screen, or a black screen with grey shades of tearing), so it does appear that its trying to do something.

The CD32 was connected via composite, I've also tried it via S-Video.

Unfortunately, I don't have a cd drive for this CD32... all I have is the motherboard :p

does anyone know how much current the CD32 normally draws from the 5 and 12volt rails?

this motherboard is drawing about 1.1amps on the 5volt rail, which seems about right to me for not having a cd drive and not doing any processing? The 12volt rails its drawing only 80ma, which seems low, but may be perfectly normal?

I'm thinking this motherboard may have the same issue, but its worse on the one I have:
