Mediator software installasion?
« on: May 30, 2004, 10:20:42 AM »
I'm sitting here with a nicely packed Mediator system but don't currently use any of the PCI cards in it because I don't know how to install them. Any site you can recomend that will tell me how to get things installed and working, perhaps even with troubleshooting etc?

Question 1: How do I setup my Picasso96 to run on my Voodoo3 2000 card?

Question 2: How do I setup the OS3.9 internet software to use my FastEtherent card and broadband connection?

Question 3: How do I setup AHI to use my SoundBlaster128 and can it passthrough the Amiga sound somehow?

Question 4: I'm totaly clueless on what is needed before I can see TV through my FlyVideo98 TVtuner.

I don't know if I'm unlucky, blind, stupid or just got an early version of the MMCD (rev1.13EN) or what not but the only doc I can find is one readme in the root telling me how to get the drivers onto the HD, not how to setup any software to use the installed drivers. :/

I found MediatorUp39 and MM_CD_1.25 amongst the files I recived when I bought the machine. Unpack and install the latest drivers and here's clearly some instruktions atleast... yay!

Ok so I got so far as to get my Voodoo3 2000 card to produce graphic on the screen though I read it can't handle interlace and 1024*768+ modes use interlace (resulting in a screen cut in half or more). Interlace can ofcause be turned off and one can input numbers manuallty but how do I calculate what numbers I need to insert? I'm given two working 1024*768 monitor settings examples but not what numbers it used to get there so how do I go about to recalculate for my setup? I'd like to get 1024*768 and 1280*1024 modes on my Fujitsu ErgoPro 151p monitor. Are there anyone out there who can help me with some figures to type in manually?

It's probably a usefull site but it's hopelessly outdated and it didn't tell me how to calculate the different numbers this one either. :/

The info I can find about my monitor is this:
(Vertical Freq 48-100Hz)
640*480   : 100Hz
800*600   : 100Hz
1024*768  :  76Hz
1280*1024 :  60Hz

(Horizontal Freq 30-64Khz)

Video Bandwidth: 95Mhz
Video Signal: Analog

And nothing more... How am I going to convert this into anything that can be used in P96Mode.

I have no clue what the different Parameters in P96Mode are or what they do... Anyone care to shed some light on them (FrameSize, BorderSize, Position, SyncSize, SyncPolarity, Clock, Interlace, DoubleScan etc)?

[edit]Ok so I ignored the different parameters and played with the clock to keep the scan within the monitors capabilities and presto it worked. I sure wonder why it could not just say so somewhere but ow well.[/edit]

Sweet success of Voodoo3 installasion and then onto Ethernet installasion.. worked lika a charm and even surfed with the Amiga for a bit though with a hiddious old browser so the experience was mixed. However I'm running into another problem now:

I've installed AHI and the SB128 drivers from the MMCD (perhaps been uppdated with one of MediatorUP39 or MM_CD_1.25) and so far so good. AHI finds the SB and I set all units to SB128 HiFi 16bit stereo++. Start AmigaAMP (the one that comes with OS3.9) and setup the sound output to AHI. Plays sound just fine but then comes the problem... I try to change MPEG input to run with Hardware decoding on ahi.device and when I try to play... crash!

Don't SB128 have Layer 1,2,3 hardware decoding? Am I suppose to change some other settings for hardware decoding to work or is it impossible with the Mediator?
