The lock isn't unique - you might be able to find a suitable key at an electronics store or a hardware store. Just needs to match in diameter.

In the 4000/4000T, I think you can just disconnect the lock from the motherboard - is the 3000T different?

Found two different sets, one Kensington (turned out to be too small) and a set with "HP" on it, which turn out to be exactly the right size but do not work! Argh... it seems the keying is off and I cannot get the lock to turn.


I'm using a generic key on my 4000T - it needs a bit of pressure before it will turn.

Unless the 3000T and 4000T locks are more different than I thought :(
