It sounds like your CIAs could be blown - it's a common problem that usually happens by plugging/unplugging things while the machine is on. There are two of them, labelled 8520. The chips are identical but they do different things depending on where in the board they're plugged in, so an easy test is to swap them and see what behaves differently (although if they're both toast this diagnostic won't help).
And to "click" using the keyboard, it's actually Amiga+LAlt for a left click and Amiga+RAlt for a right click (Amiga menus are accessed using a right click).
