3000T Trouble
« on: November 23, 2003, 12:20:10 AM »
Put simply, I can't get this 3000T to boot. It's got a Commodore 3640 (rev 3.1), 3.1 ROMs, 2 hard drives. The boot sequence won't even start, so early startup control is not an option. I think it has DMAC 2, not certain of RAMSEY (should be 4, yes?)

When it arrived, the 3640 was kicking around loose inside (bad) and the clock crystal had fallen out. Even when replaced, it's not working. I hope nothing shorted out...

The hard drive clicks as if to boot, but then nothing happens afterward. The disk LED does not do anything. Floppy's not being checked by the system either. The battery has been removed and rerouted to several AAA batteries, though one of the terminals has snapped off the motherboard (I can't see that being the problem).

Any suggestions? I'm stumped. Let me know if you need more details... Thanks.

Update: Problem (mostly) solved

Got the machine going without the accelerator installed. I think it was a bad jumper config / loose chips. Working on the accelerator now.

Thanks for the help, all.

*EDIT*

Okay. Accelerator's working. Trouble resolved. :-)
