AmigaOne has arrived
« on: May 09, 2003, 09:01:12 PM »
Finally! My A1 G4 has arrived. I've made the following discoveries:

1. The C=1942 Monitor can't handle modern graphics cards.
2. I don't know anything about the internal workings of modern computers.
3. I HATE Linux.

On another note, I made some stylized 'A' printouts to glue over the ugly Windoze keys. Now to wait for the OS to go with them.

I tried all 3 Linux 'screenmodes.' The two highest are a complete mess and the smallest is still a disaster. It's like overtweaking MonEd on Amiga native screens.

I think it's time to join some AmigaLinux mailing lists...

There's no reason to hate Linux. Give it a try!
It might make you appreciate AOS even more!
  :-D

Ehhh.... I don't know. I tried to install it twice on my 1200, failed both times. Even preinstalled on the A1 it doesn't work 100%.  I'll try it a while longer...

You're right in that I appreciate AmigaOS even more!

If I bought a new Pentium 4 and still had to use my old 386 I would be very upset I tell you! And as I can tell Matt is not very "satisfied" from his new "Amiga" - for now at least-.

I've waited this long for the machine to arrive. A couple more months for OS4 doesn't seem so bad to me. Once I get a stable Linux install, I'm going to get UAE and MOL up and use those.

I'm just glad to finally have the hardware. I'd rank my overall satisfaction at this point as "Pleased."  :-)
