I think it's something to do with the charset, though I don't really know how to correct it. It could be a bug. I seem to recall the changelog at
http://ww.ibrowse-dev.net mentioning something about it.
The OS3.9 Euro Update might help too, though that may only affect Amiga bitmap fonts.
