Woo Hoo! an update to a OS that only a handful of people can run! Sweet!
Serious though, they must have some kind of future hardware plans. Why would they keep putting all this work into this?
Odds are, they're trying to update it, to remove any code still owned by A.I.. Think about it from a legal standpoint. Hyperion's gotta prove that the codebase is entirely their own. I'm sure that certain areas of the code are still 68k. Once all that "legacy" code is removed, AOS4+ will be like the various flavors of Linux.

They're going the route of MorphOS and AROS.
More power to them. Now, I just need a major AROS update to be happy.
