Make sure you've got a working set of Workbench disks or a copy of OS3.9 before you remove that drive. You might regret it otherwise.
As for the transferring of files, I'd recommend AmigaExplorer and a null modem cable to start. You can get AE of the Amiga Forever CD. Good program.
