A3640 Cooler for A3000D

Do you really think you need a fan?  They only shipped with an Aluminium heat sink, although some were wider than others.

Well, in lieu of submersion of your A3000 in liquid nitrogen, if you really believe that the 68040 was not meant to run hot to the touch, then you can "hot glue" the edges of this to the CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835119079

My experience with the A3000 is that they looked fantastic but the insides were designed by a Commodore executive and not a engineer.

Also don't forget the thermal paste between the two, it works better than flour and water that was the old Commodore standard.

If you ever pried the heat sink off, then what you find between it and the CPU is a hard, dried, flaky ex-paste; nothing resembling grease

You are aware that the PSU's fan is all there is moving cool air in and then out, so replacing this with one that is far more efficient in moving air will let the case actually have cool air for the CPU to use.

Odd that there would be an accelerator card interface, a working accelerator card, stand-off posts and a CPU heat sink designed to fit the A3000 if "it was never actually a reccomended Amiga 3000 upgrade"

Th one on the left with the larger heat sink allows the sink to rotate 90 degrees and fit an A4000D
