And of course you respect intellectual property rights and would never condone the cloning of actual kickstart ROMs to EPROMs, right?

Some see a discussion on the respect of intellectual property rights, others discuss a "moral compass."  Morality refers to personal or cultural values, while under intellectual property laws, owners of intellectual property are granted certain exclusive rights.

27C400's are Erasable Programmed Read Only Memory, EPROM; EEPROM's are Electrically Erasable Programmed Read Only Memory.

One erases an EPROM with UV light through the clear window on top of the chip which, after programming, it covered with a sticker to prevent light from erasing again.

I found the 105 ns ones shipped from China for about $6 USD each in a search.
