Well for one thing do not use slot one (1) for the video card -- I assume you mean the slot next to the "bridge board." The standard recommendation is slot 2, use the first slot for the Ethernet card. Secondly make sure you are using the most recent drivers; the pci.library should be at least 9.7 (10.0 can be downloaded from their beta directory).  There is a beta Radeon.card, but I can't tell you what versions they all are from my iPhone. Are you using the MMCD 2.1?

For problems with OS 4.1 go to Hyperion's Classic forum and there is a ton of info on installing OS 4.1, compatability of hardware (a BIG problem), and what to try to get it installed. There is a lot of information in those posts.

If you can't get the most recent Mediator files, then pm me with your email address and I will send them to you

Civic, I believe that if you bought the Radeon card from Elbox or Amigakit, it should work; however if you got it somewhere else it will work or not, but I believe that clicking on the monitor icon and it crashing has nothing to do with the card, I believe it a driver issue as the card isn't really accessed by clicking on the monitor, but rather setting the screen mode were the card is activated would cause a crash. Make sure you have only the standard monitor (PAL/NTSC) in the directory with the Radeon monitor.  To me, that is a software problem (drivers and ENV settings).  My first install acted that way; it crashed on doing anything and later every time I opened a window it froze and had to be rebooted.

Elbox may make and sell these things, but they don't support them after the sale; you have to get support elsewhere

P.S., the sii3112/4 SATA boards only work under OS 4.1; Elbox didn't write the drivers for 4.1, Hyperion did and they decided what to support based on expense and DMA issues

It is unlikely that the power supply is under powered as a Toaster 4000 and TBC cards plus accelerator runs fine on other A4000D's; the RTL8039 requires some PCI ram to function and it borrows from the graphic card.

Another hint: pm me your address and I'll send you current drivers as attachment. If your Radeon is not from Elbox or Amigakit, there is no way of knowing if it's ROM is compatible or not; you can get the same beautiful picture with a Voodoo3 3000, just not the ram (which is only good in OS 3.x, not OS 4.1).

TenWheeler: "Stay Close to the Candles... the Stairway Can Be Treacherous"

The Video card install does take quite a few steps that at first make no sense, which is why either one has to find an explicit post on the subject, or get it wrong two or three times, so that after a dozen or more times you can guide someone else through it.  That someone, I'm afraid will not be Elbox.  I've installed the software on my 2 A4000T's so often It actually makes (a perverse and morbid) sense.  I feel for those folks who, like me, first looked at the Elbox instructions and said, "WTF?"  THe Ethernet software takes sometime (especially with AmiTCP) to get working, but the spider card is easier.  The sound card can be a bit of trouble.  Luckily in OS 4.1 for Classics, Hyperion wrote their own drivers, and everything that is SUPPORTED works like a charm; ever wonder why OS 4.1 supports SATA cards and sound cards that Elbox doesn't?  THe Hyperion guys first supported as many diverse video cards they could, and then picked out the most generic, inexpensive PCI cards they could.  The only issue is that the OS 4.1 only supports DMA on the CSPPC SCSI bus; all other DMA cards need not apply -- these include other SCSI cards, USB cards, and the like.  If the hardware supports PIO, then thats how they picked them -- i.e., Deneb has a DMA driver (cool in OS 3.x), but in OS 4.1 it uses a PIO driver.

Elbox has a "beta" pci.library (version 10.0) that is said to help some (poorly chosen) Radeon Cards work in OS 4.1, but I've tried it and it does not help with the spider, SB128, or RTL8039, but it does interfere with the  sii3114ide.device from "seeing" attached hard drives.

For ciVic, anything that tries to insert code into the kickstart kernel at boot time will kill OS 4.1; hence the FastATA 4000, Deneb with any ROM code, Buddah IDE card, etc will prevent OS 4.1 from booting.  That is why the OS 4.1 hardware compatability list is gospel.

Wow, this went off topic.

I sent ciVic the most recent drivers including pic. Lib ver 10.0

Ignore the negative numbers. That is a "red herring"

The easiest card is a Voodoo3 2000 or 3000, but the Radeon will work fine if all the drivers, picasso96, and the ENV are set right
