Imho I make my Workbench3.9 partition around 400-500MB. Don't really need it much larger than that and since a lot of programs write to it, I'd rather not risk some old software flaking out because of the size.
One of my favorite directory utilities, DirWork, is one that crashes if you try to write to drives or partitions above the 4GB mark, so in this instance I only use it to move files into my main partitions (within the first 4GB of space).
Yup, 500MB is all you can possibly use. Will hold every hack, utility, or dongle you'll ever need.
