Title: How to run adf from cd without extracting to floppy?
Post by: goofy on July 05, 2004, 04:19:54 PM
Hi there.
I've got Amiga CD32 with Promodule, so its something like Amiga 1200 with cdrom and 8mb of fast ram.
I have downloaded some games in .adf files an wanted do burn it on cd so i can play them fast without using floppy (which i have too). So my question is it possible to do it and how if possible?

thanks for any advise.

If the games are system-friendly, you can use something like the file: device included in the xfs package (http://ftp.plig.org/pub/aminet/disk/misc/xfs.lha) on aminet. Then they'll just be like real disks. Except you can't write to them, of course.

But most games aren't system-friendly and will just ask for the floppy drive anyway. Or crash. So it may be a bit of a waste of time trying.

You should try this:

1. Go to www.whdload.de , download and register. It's really worth it...
2. Go to www.amigagames.com , look for game resources links in the forums;
3. Prepare a CD with a booting system (OS3.1 is enough) and stuffed with tons of whdload installed games;
4. Burn and enjoy!

If you're smart enough, you should try this too:

gives a sexy touch...  :-D
