Title: Why is DOpus 4.12SE so slow with me?

I'm using Directory Opus 4.12SE but compared to PD file manager
Ordering and indeed the Workbench itself I am going very slow.

Each file seems to make the hard disk chug under DOpus and large
directories take forever to display.

What setting am I using wrong, does this have some to do with
ASynchio?

Even copying files only achieves 300k/s compared to
Ordering/Workbench's 800k/s.

DOpus is much better but seems slow as though each task is verified.
Could it be the progress bar slowing me down?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, also does anyone know whether
Magellan 1 or 2 has file sorting like MUI? I refer to
attribute sorting like MUI has (to sort in order of date, filetype,
size etc.)

DOpus 4 is up to version 4.17r21, it is on DOpus4 files at Yahoo, you have to be a member of this group to access this file, I could email it to you if you like?  It is quite fast now, 4.12 is really old.

Hi

yes download at least the 4.17r14 and test it.

Remember to install ALL the diles of the archive (modules and library)

The 4.17r20 and 4.17r21 has some problem at least, on my system.

The faster one is 4.16, with some little problems.

DirOpus 4 works just fine with Kickstart / Workbench 2.04, but has problems with Amiga OS 3.1.  I had to go back to using DiskMaster 2.1.  It may have something to do with the fact that I added a graphics board to my Miggy.  Now DirOpus does not like it.   :roll:

DOpus 4.16 and above REQUIRE Kickstart 3.1 and a 020 or better.  DOpus 4.16 and above will NOT work on a 2.x system.  Older versions 4.12 work fine with 3.1 and P96 or CGX3+, some versions display the Config screen on a native screen. :roll: indeed.

I like 4.16, had problems of one sort or another with the late 4.17 releases ... I'll try r14 now though :-)
