Title: Hardware hacking?
Post by: adolescent on June 30, 2004, 12:41:06 AM
Just noticed the hardware hacking forum is gone missing.  Assuming this wasn't a freak accident caused by global warming...  Have the posts been migrated to another forum, or are they gone.

Uhm... Isn't it just the "Hardware  Issues and discussion (http://www.amiga.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13)"?

Actualy some days ago the was a category with the title: hardware hacking..
but because many hardware hacking post was posted in the generic category hardware discussions I belive its better the way it is now because when you searching this category you can not miss something that you belive its not belong here.

Yes, I'm talking about the hacking forum, not the general hardware area.  I'm just wondering if the posts were archived.  I see them show up in the search and bookmarks I have, but it shows an error when I try to click one.

@adolescent

The Hardware Hacking forum was deemed redundant and all posts were moved to the Hardware forum before it's removal from the system.

Bookmarking forum posts is just a bad idea.

@Wayne

It looks tike some posts didn't make it.  i was going to update my "A1200 RF Modulator Deletion" thread but it is gone. It shows up in the search, but i get an error when trying to access it.

If bookmaking threads is a bad idea then perhaps the option should be removed?

Edit: correct thread name

Why are you "bumping" this thread?  There is nothing more to say, nor any more light I can shed on this situation.

I was waiting for a response and didn't think you had seen the post.

All threads were not migrated.  Are these gone for good?  It appears that the search function is broken and reporting these now non-existant threads.

Also, if the bookmark function isn't to be used, why have it available?

I'm just trying to help and report bugs.  If you don't want the feedback then I'll stop posting.

Ok, search is "fixed".  I assume because of the upgrade.  Am I to read the rest as "live with it?".  I'd like to hear about the bookmarking though.

We're talking about two different things here.  When you said "bookmark", I thought you meant adding a bookmark in your browser which should not be done, because the URL to forum posts can change as they are pruned or moved as part of maintenance.

"bookmarking" on the site however, should be fine.  If it doesn't work, not jack I can do, since I didn't write the software.
