Hello there!

I'm not really sure about AsimCDFS. When I tried it I was getting
horrible chugging from the CD-ROM drive (Sony 1997 SCSI-2 16x) so I
switched to Phase5's AmiCDFS.

I've heard that for DVD drives the AllegroCDFS is the best. Allegro is part of the IDEFix package I think. It
should work with SCSI right?

SCSI ID 0? Well, i dunno what your system is, but usually ID 0 is used by the primary master HDD. Everything after 0, i.e. 1,2,3,4 etc used by others added to the chain, like second HDD, CD-ROM etc.
You should check your settings, use SCSI_Inquire in AsimCDFS to see where your CD-ROM is connected to.
You select the scsi.device on the left, and it automatically detects on which ID what is connected. So you can use that ID to enter into the settings.

Have a try :-)
