My favorite bands seem to be from australia for some reason...odd, Im sitting here its late and im doing the mp3 thing (bite me RIAA) and I have fallen in love with the sound of overkill by men at work, the I realize Im into ac/dc and midnight oil as well. I have a particular hankering for 80s stuff lately( it was my teen years) I may be biased but 80s music was great, better than the 90s thats for sure. Just thought I would muse a bit thanks for reading.

80`s music is like Amigas, they bring back good old memories :-)
-
Well, 80's music might bring back memories, but it's mostly the quality that counts. Considering that, I prefer the late 60's and 70's with Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and so.
btw. these are the good ones between the popular. Who wants to remember ABBA (for the quality, not for the camp, that is)
Btw, anyone ever heard of DAAU (Die Anarchistische AbendUnterhaltung)?
It's a "new" (started in 1994 or so) Belgian rock/classic music band, it plays instrumental music, with cello, accordion and violin.
It's goooood. Especially "Lost Souls" and "Gin & Tonic"

Hoya!
/me agrees with Speel.
And Frank Zappa, Santana, Ten Years After, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, James Brown, Fela Kuti... Oh mate, good music DIED at the end of the 70's!
Reason? Commercialism and punk :pissed:

man, good music CAN'T die,
commercialism only got more in the picture, and with that, it drew good music on the background, where it still lurks :-),
you just have to search for it
OH YEAH! (loud screetching cry out suddenly of the blue)
/me is listening Jimi Hendrix - Catfish blues

Hoya!
Yes, I still agree but I mean that during the 50's, 60's and 70's the situation was reversed.
98% good music Vs. 2% crap.
Nowadays it is 98% crap Vs. 2% good.
And no, hiphop and techno have NOT saved music!

Greetings,
The 70's were my fave classic hits of the BEEGEES.
More than a woman.
How deep is your love.
To love somebody.
The joke was on me.
and finally(incidentally) The Commodores, just one song.
Three times a lady.
Cheers! :-)
