I am using OS3.9 BB1 and BB2 installed. Every time I try to use PlayCD I get the message "Device does not conform to SCSI-2 (cd.device, unit 0, version 0)"
Then PlayCD closes.
The tooltypes are
(PUBSCREEN=)
DEVICE=cd.device
UNIT=0
(BUFFMEMTYPE=1)
SKIN=silver
What s wrong, it just wont play anything?
Can any one help?
TIA,
Mike.....

Unless you are using a CD32, you have no reason to be using cd.device. Try using the real device (scsi.device or atapi.device, usually) that points to your CDROM.
-
I am using 2 CDrom drives and both need the cd.device to operate, and both work fine, so no matter what I do I still need to use the cd.device.
I changed from cd.device to scsi.device in the tooltypes and still wont work.
:-?
-
Why do you need the cd.device? I don't understand. cd.device as I know it is just a wrapper that sits on top of another device, for CD32 compatibility.
Remember to set the unit properly too.
And do other cd players work for you?
-
I suspect there are several issues here.
The first is the Unit= number in the PlayCD icon.
UNIT=0 is usually the boot drive. Do you boot from the CDRom or a hard drive?
If the latter, the PlayCD UNIT=number should coincide with the location of the CDRom you wish to use for PlayCD. You can't use both (if I understand the IDE setup correctly).
So, Unit=0 is the Channel1 Master (Boot disk)
Unit 1 is Channel 1 Slave, Unit 2 is Channel 2 Master and Unit 3 is Channel 2 Slave.
Also in the PlayCD icon, the DOSDev= setting should correspond with the icon you use for the selected CD drive DOSdriver icon. It could be CD0, Cd1, etc.
I have DEVICE=scsi.device in my PlayCD icon and BUFMEMTYPE is active.

In the CDPlayer tool types I have this:-
DOSDEV=CD0
DEVICE=scsi.device
UNIT=2
BUFMEMTYPE=1
The CD I play from is the Secondary Master (I use 4xEIDI`99)
So if I am correct then all is set up right.
But I still get that message then PlayCD closes down.

@swift240
Does this tally with the tooltypes in the CD0 icon? (It's in Wb:Devs/DOSdrivers)

Hi swift240
in the CDPlayer tool types I have this:-
DOSDEV=CD0
DEVICE=scsi.device
UNIT=2
BUFMEMTYPE=1
and this is correct
In the DosDrivers:CD0 descriptor you should have:
/* AllegroCDFS mountlist */
FileSystem = L:AllegroCDFS
Flags = 0 /* unused */
BlocksPerTrack = 10 /* unused */
BlockSize = 2048 /* unused */
Mask = 0x7ffffffe
LowCyl = 0 /* unused */
HighCyl = 0 /* unused */
Surfaces = 1 /* unused */
Buffers = 128
/* 128 = 128 * 512 bytes */
BufMemType = 1
GlobVec = -1
Mount = 1
Priority = 5
DosType = 0x41434453
StackSize = 2048
/* Control = DC */
/* DC=DEFCDDA/S - ISO/CDDA disks start as CDDA */
/* The Device and Unit fields are controlled by ToolTypes in the icon.*/
Ciao

@Framiga
He needs a PowerFlyer Gold to run the AllegroCDFS. I don't think he's got this kit.
@Swift240
What interface module do you have?

Here is my setup:-
4x EIDI99, without the software. If I install the software
inc Allegro CDFS I start to get problems like only 1 cd drive will be recognised.
At present I am using
CD++ on the CD device.
CD0 and CD1

@swift240
Forget about AllegroCDFS with your IDE module. Go to Aminet (http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminet) and search for IDEfix drivers and CD filesystems, which should be more appropriate.
All the foregoing stuff about Devices and Unit numbers applies.

@ swift240
read carefully the docs that comes with EIDE '99 v3.1 & AllegroCDFS v3.0 (for the 4xEIDE adapter)
http://www.vesalia.de/files/eide99.lha
above of all, the setpatch configuration and NSDPAtch too.
Bye
PS- your 4 way adapter, needs its driver to works properly.
