Anyone know any software on Aminet that will re-align
a floppy drive ??
I'm hoping I can get this drive to work again.
I'm getting tired of these unscrupulous EBay sellers
that pass off junk that they know doesn't work by saying
"as is" and "untested". This is just another way of saying
that this is junk and it doesn't work. This is the
second drive I've been burned on trying to get a high
density drive for my A2000. Anyone know where I can
buy a new one?

Hum,
I haven't heard of anything myself...
But I think that there are sometimes `correcting` screws on the reading arm, that can be adjusted, and reached through a small hole at the back, on certain drives...
good luck.

Try this on Aminet,
TrackDiskSync.lha hard/misc 11K 195 Recalibration tool for floppy drives

melott,
Is your drive a true Amiga 2000 HD drive or one made for the Amiga 3000 or 4000? If it is what Workbench are you using? I have discovered that some Amiga 2000 HD drives work with Amiga OS 2.04, but not with Amiga OS 3.1 or above. I just sold a true Amiga 2000 HD disk drive on eBay for $95.00 plus S/H charges. The buyer is very happy with it and gave me a positive feedback. That drive only worked with Amiga OS 2.04. It did not work with Amiga OS 3.1. I could email you a DMS copy of the best Amiga disk alignment program available, but I think it only works on the standard Amiga disk drives. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM HD DISK DRIVES FOR THE AMIGA!!!! The Amiga standard is still 880K. So, start stocking up on DS/DD disks like I do. The following Teac disk drives will work with the Amiga computer: Teac FD-235HF 3240-U5, Teac FD-235HF 3217-U, and Teac FD-235HF 3201-U. I hope this helps you out. :-)
