Title: Amiga 3000, video issue
Post by: koaftder on June 23, 2004, 04:51:42 AM
Hey yall, i just recently put together an amiga 3000 system. I'm getting a wierd video problem. When the computer is started up cold, it looks like every horizontal line is shifted to the left a pixel or two, and it flickers real bad. After the machine has been up for about 10 minutes the problem slowly fades away. I'm currently using a descent VGA monitor, ive tested the machine on two monitors, and they both exhibit the same behavior, though they work perfectly fine on all my other machines.

Not much of a problem really, but i expect it will get worse. Any ideas?

I would guess (and this is just a guess) that something is mis-adjusted in the built-in scandoubler module.  Perhaps the timing is slightly off?  I think it has a potentiometer somewhere on the motherboard.

I have a scandoubler card that exhibits a similar problem, only the inverse.  The horizontal lines start out a few pixels offset too far right, and then come into place as the card warms up.  After maybe a two or three minutes, it displays perfectly.  I always just figured if it got any worse, I'd mess with adjusting it, but so far, it's stayed the same.

Have you tried fine tuning the potentiometer in the hole near the scandoubler switch?
