Title: CD32 to 1084 monitor
Post by: Stedy on June 22, 2004, 10:59:17 PM
Hello,

I have been trying to help someone connect a CD32 to a C= 1084 monitor, but with little luck.

Ok he has a PAL CD32 and is in the USA (home of NTSC) but I thought the C1084 would work but there is only a black and white picture.

Looking at the 1084 pinout, it takes RGB colour data and CSYNC, HSYNC and VSYNC data. Now the standard CD32 only outputs composite video (sync and colour info) or S-Video (chrominance and luminance).

Am I missing a simple way of connecting the CD32 to the 1084 without resorting to an adaptor?

Has anyone done this in the past?

If you go by the composite/s-vhs route, then you will need an NTSC CD32 or a PAL 1084 monitor. Through composite/s-vhs, black and white picture gets displayed if using:

NTSC CD32 with a PAL 1084
PAL CD32 with an NTSC 1084

If you go by the RGB route, then any combination would work just fine, but for this you need an SX-1, SX32, SX32Pro, or a rare CD32 RGB expansion for the expansion slot (they do exist, but are very uncommon/rare).
