Title: Has this freaked you out?
Post by: blobrana on June 21, 2004, 01:57:55 PM
Hum,
Why does ask im/personal question?

Ok, the simplest explanation is that he/she is genuinely interested in our viewpoints, and just wants to know what we think...
Or , perhaps is just being witty and jovial...

But is this a naive viewpoint....?

1.0) A rather more sinister aspect is that he/she may be compiling a secret dossier containing psychological profiles on each and every one of us (for reasons unbeknown)...

stop reading here...>
We know that newbies are joining A.Org all the time, but where is everyone?
I won't go as far as saying `alien abduction`, or `Solent Green`,  but you get the picture...

2.0) There is also the rather disturbing idea that perhaps they don't actually know the answer to the question themselves, and are using us to do their `homework`....

Eg. Why do they want to know if it's raining outside my house? (Do i live in a house...)?

2.1)Similarly, they could be too lazy to answer the question themselves.
Eg. Do you like this sort of music...?

3.0) And of course we can't discount the idea that by answering the questions we are unwitting being precisely targeted for Spam and data-mining Internet bots...

So,
Has this freaked you out?

Oh, happy Solstice everyone!    :-)

Hum,
Well that`s just my point....

The stalker has to be good (er, like CIA/SPECTRE trained) for  me not to notice anything....

No, i was just making a pointless remark about pointless questions here...

If we're talking about the vague cliche threads that spout off some old proverb as though it has any worthwhile meaning, I always attributed it to a desperate attempt to appear interesting or thoughtful while (unfortunately) the person had nothing worthwhile to say (prolly' due to a general lack of brain activity)

 :-D

It's the cynic in me, when someone says something vague and basically meaningless or pointless conversationally, I tend to assume that it really was meaningless and pointless, and the person was just trying to sound interesting.

I attribute the rest of those posts to a LOT of boredom.
