Hi
I know sega mega drive (genesis) controllers work on the A1200, will this one work?

I realise I will only get 1 button functionality, but I have read of a hack that will give you all 6 buttons somewhere.

Hi,
If you're interested, we still have these in stock:
Competition Pro CD32 Joypad (http://www.computercity.biz/product_info.php?cPath=21_83&products_id=917&osCsid=654a1486de9dc9e865cb2711b3cbb95f).
Best regards,

Most likely not. Unless someone did it already. Specially if it's the 6 button joypad. I tried it before, the smaller version. It never worked! return to seller and exchanged it with the 3 button but with Turbo option. Much safer you'd get a 3 button type with a turbo. I got 4 pieces at present.
Tried the Aminet but didn't get much to explore some programs cause I was busy playing then :-P
Cheers!

Sorry, I'm not paying that much for a joystick.

So are you saying that this one will work:

Yes. But the buttons are the same size as the regular A B C buttons but they will work and much cheaper. I highly recommend it. Just to be safe. :-D
One hitch, Overtime, leaving it plugged in while typing the keyboard. Not good. Unplug them. Seem to affect some keys(A1200).

What do you mean by "Overtime"? I can't have the joystick plugged in when I type in the keyboard at all?

Just do a search for CD32 on lik-sang and you will find a great CD32 gamepad that works well. I got 2 of them not long ago.

Sorry for the delay..
'Overtime' meant that I never unplug the other one for a long time. You can still use the keyboard even it's plugged in, just don't leave it like the mouse. At first I didn't notice it until a year later that some keys like my 'M' and '<-' stops working. When I unplugged it, the problem disappears. Just been happening lately.
Bottom line is don't plug it when you're not playing games and when you're just using Workbench.
I'm using Sega pads cause I have nowhere to buy Amiga pads in a mall here. It's my alternative. If you still need it, just do my advice. :-)

Please read up on the differences between the megadrive joypad port and the Amiga joystick port.
The best idea is to make a short adapter cable between the Amiga and the pad..
Two wires need to be crossed and IIRC one of the pad's buttons shorts +5 to ground, so you shouldn't directly connect it.

Really? Alot of people say that mega drive controllers work fine, and I am using one at the moment with no problems.
Where can I find something outlining the differences between the two?

Yeah, thats the competition pro, which is my favourite joystick for the amiga, but liksang.com says that it is out of stock thats why I am looking at alternatives.

Some games to take advantage(if you have)
Joe & Mac(caveman ninjas)
R-Types 1,2
Turrican 2 (best try both B and C- he'll do a barrage!)
Street Fighter 2
MK I and II
Desert Strike
So far, these are the games that work fine using the 'C'
