Hey guys thanks for your help getting my A1200HD working, now I'm all set I'd like to hear everyones opinions about some good Hd installable games to play, I've got 4mb memory board on the way too.
Cheers :-)

Can the memory expansion board take 8 meg of ram?
Mike...

Umm I'm not really sure.. as I've not got it yet but it's on it's way. I'll probably get a proper accelerator anyway at some point, the 25mhz '040s that amigakit are selling look very tempting.. :-)

I'm not suggesting you don't get an accelerator card, but having "been there and done that" I can tell you the '1200 will be pretty snappy just with additional RAM. Oh, you're not going to play WarcraftIII under OS9 using Basilisk or Fusion or anything like that, but extra FAST memory makes the 1200 much more responsive.
Save your dollars and buy an 060 card :)

Yeah the Apollo 060s that vesalia do seem good also, but this thread was about what good games are there with HD installers included that I should try on my A1200HD ?
-
I would suggest Dune 2, which is an awesome strategy game. Games like Worms, Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2 and Formula One Grand Prix are cool games as well.
If you have Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, Desert Strike, Sensible World Of Soccer, Soccer Kid, Superfrog, Cannon Fodder and Super Hagn-On on original disks you can find installers for them (and lots of others as well) at www.whdload.de

Thanks DoctorQ, is there an easy way to link my amiga to my pc so I can download and transfer all the Whdload gubbins?
-
Burn a CD, or get your A1200 online. It's easy with an PCMCIA ethernet card if you are on broadband. Then you can even hook up your PC and Amiga and share files.
-
Yes I'd thought of that but I need somewhere to get the software for the amiga on disk for the P.c linkup and a tcp/ip stack.. I think anyway, correct me if I'm wrong.
-
You're not wrong, but that is doable via crossdos, which is a device (pc0) allowing you to read pc floppys in your amiga. It's on one of your workbench disks. Probably the storage one.
Sincerely,
-Kenneth Straarup.

Is a link via an ethernet card for Amiga to PC easy to set up, as in would the ethernet card come with all the software and if not where can I get it from on amiga floppy?
-
Yes, it is very easy to setup.
No, it's probably not included with an ethernet board. You'll need (want) either miami (deluxe) or genesis. Miami can't be registered anymore, so you can only be online for 30 minutes at a time.
Genesis comes with os3.9 (and possibly 3.5) and is afaik not sold seperately.
Sincerely,
-Kenneth Straarup.
-
OS3.5 doesn't have a TCP/IP stack. It just comes with a 30 min timeout demo of Miami.

I just bought one of those Amiga to PC link cables and software from ebay so hopefully this should be fine for transferring some games and things that I download, anybody else got one of these, are they hard to use? It's called Ami-PC linkup if that's any help.

transferring 2mb from pc to amiga or vice versa will take about 2 hours with a normal serial null-modem cable and with Amiga Explorer.
With too large files it will stop after half an hour :P
better DMS it in WinUAE or use a network card or CD-ROM in your A1200
