I'm not sure about the exact date, but early summer 1994 I purchased an A1200HD second-hand. I had previously owned an a A500+ but this was completely different. The obvious advantages of having a hard drive took me by storm, as did the AGA graphics.
So, I've had this little lady for ten years. It's probably 11 years old, but the first year doesn't count since I didn't own it then :)
And boy, is it good quality! The case is yellowed (and obviously the PCMCIA port is broken) but otherwise it still works like a dream. It's lasted me through four hard drives, three CPU upgrades, eleven demo parties, countless mini-copy parties, three modems and more mice than you can shake a stick at.
During the last few years I've been running her topless (my current 3.5" hard drive won't let the case close) and still she's managed to survive rough transports to demo parties, friend's houses and I've even brought her with me to work once or twice.
She has inspired me to pixel graphics, learn how to program, taking part in the demo scene and of course she's given me much enjoyment with games such as Slam Tilt, Scorched Tanks, Silkworm, Super Foul Eggs and, uh, more Slamt Tilt.
She has pushed me to learn basically everything I know about difficult computer words: refresh rates, multitsaking, DMA, device drivers, IPC, bus speeds, SCSI, TCP/IP...
So, here's to my old trusty A1200. Cheers! :pint:

Happy birthday.
Sorry, that's my singing for the year over - I don't want the cats wailing along again :-P

multitsaking is indeed a difficult computer word :)
