"Steaming" gang? What did they attack with, boiling kettles?

Anyway - Hang all the f*cktards, including the 13yr old.

Bring back public execution! That would kick so much ass  :-D

Definitely a good case for gun control. Can you only imagine what it would be like if those f*cktards had guns? Oh I forgot, you don't have to imagine, do you Fade. :-D

Hoya!

@Fade

This thread is on the verge of trolling...

So, according to you, if people had guns in UK this would not happen?

Sure, just take a stroll in Compton or South Central...

As for someone being able to defend themselves with a gun...

Yes, when in a one-to-one situation, not in a one-to-twenty... And anyway, don't you think they, too, would have guns?

Violence is animal, whether you are allowed to have guns or not, just look at America...

@Speel

I agree with you mate.

anyone who thinks this complex and difficult problem can be solved by the stupidity of guns is a sad, impotent moron.

Heh - they have a point Fade. Why did you focus this topic on guns?  :-? Nothing about guns was said in the article.

imho:
Guns should only be used when you are in your own residence, to defend against violent trespassers.

Hum,
Resistance begins at ohm...

Though, i doubt i would give them the full 9 yards...

(Er as this is the uk, and a lot safer than most places like beirut or the US..)
 :-)

[Er, for those not fimilar with the `frontline` the maxim machine gun had a 9-yard bullet belt...]

Speel, the only thing more boring than boring threads is people commenting to say how boring they are. Don't read 'em if they bore you!

I saw a TV programme the other week that estimated that 20 Million people in the world have been killed by AK-47 rifles alone.  Moreover, there's one AK in existence for every sixty people on the planet...

How you can ever solve the world's social problems by using bigger guns is beyond me.

"As for someone being able to defend themselves with a gun.
Yes, when in a one-to-one situation, not in a one-to-twenty..."
-----------

I see you are sticking to that old French axiom, tis safer to be a victim, than try to protect yourself.

Please don't repeat that too often as it seems to rub off on other countries close by.

Hum,
it should be said that there are gangs of people who roam around  and "clean up rubbish/graffiti and fix-things..." (in middle of the night)...

The police have been quoted as saying " this is technically not a bad thing"

It`s probably just an urban craze, involving anarchistic activists, though...
Weird things happen in the UK.

If so, my carrying one would be necessary.

You know, I often have thoughts along those lines! Of course, chances are some cop would arrest me.

TPG,

If you decide to put together a "fix-it" gang, I want in! What a fantastic idea :-) Honest, I'll come and help. It'd be worth doing just to see if we do get arrested. :-)

Ah? Never heard this, really!

@T_Bone

You know, even if everyone was allowed to carry a gun, gangs would organise themselves to overwhelm their victims everytime, no matter the size of their weapons.

It's true I don't know much about quantum physics (bug, see?) but I find this fascinating:

Teleportation breakthrough made (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3811785.stm) [BBC - Science]

Quote
First, a pair of highly entangled, charged atoms (or ions) are created: B and C. Next, the state to be teleported is created in a third ion, A.

Then, one ion from the pair - let's say B - is entangled with A, and the internal state of both is measured.

Finally, the quantum state of ion A is sent to ion C, transforming it. This destroys the original quantum state of A.

The teleportation took place in milliseconds and at the push of a button, the first time such a deterministic mechanism has been developed for the process.

I read something years ago about how 2 atoms can share quantum states even when moved apart. But that was in one of those weird science books that have chapters on plants dying if you say nasty things to them and razor blades getting sharper if put inside little pyramids.

Cool eh?

MAD was referring to Fade's anti-French comment. it was nothing you said.

as to your Teleportation link, very cool. although it won't help anyone commuting to work!

Yea i saw that

Weapons that can incapacitate crowds of people by sweeping a lightning-like beam of electricity across them are being readied for sale to military and police forces in the US and Europe.

At present, commercial stun guns target one person at a time, and work only at close quarters.

The new breed of non-lethal weapons can be used on many people at once and operate over far greater distances.

It`s becoming more and more like Quake3d everyday...

Actually, gangs arn't a problem in area's where everyone is known to carry. Gangs only seem to be a problem in areas with strict gun controll.

Anyways, if you say gangs will just get bigger guns, regardless of the law, then why have the law?
 :-)

It seems like I keep hearing "We need laws against guns" and "criminals won't follow the law and get bigger guns" as part of the same arguement.
