Hello... just to let you know (and ask for some help if anybody in Germany is willing to). I won the auction on ebay.de on May 18th for a CSPPC, the seller answered all the emails fast before the auction ended, and even after that when we were arranging payment details, after I sent my payment I asked him for confirmation (the payment was a direct bank deposit from a friend located in Germany too) and since then, there are no news from the seller nor my board. The guys' ebay alias is "vio12" and he's suposed to be located in Berlin, Germany. I've contacted ebay and they have told me there's no way to get my money back as the payment was not made with paypal or a similar service :-(... does anyone have a reference of this person? Maybe somebody in Berlin could help? I have the guy's address regged on ebay. It's just sad these things keep happening in the Amiga "community"... It's dissapointing :-(
Thanks
D.

Humm the problem is the method of payment used. You can not get back a bank transfer. Next time you should use PayPal. I recently get defraud by a person selling me amiga hardware, then he don´t reply my emails and the item don´t arrive. Then I started a demand process in PayPal, At the same time I go to my bank and canceled the PayPal charge.
I hope you can get the CSPPC or you money.

Oh Noooo! Not another one!
Couldn't be You-know-Who I suppose....?
@Dragster
Sorry to hear about this. There's another ten or so people here with a similar problem! If you really want to read all about it, look for the longest running thread in the Amiga on Ebay section.
Good Luck!

Damn what is it with all these CSPPC sellers in Germany taking money and not sending out the boards? Its madness I tell you!
For the price some of you are spending on these boards you can get a Pegasos II. Why not upgrade before another person get ripped off?

I am beginning to take Acill's views a bit more seriously as we get more and more crap like these frauds. It's strange how they are all related to Germany. :-)
It is definitely time to move on. Sometimes I too feel like I should simply sell what ever hardware I have and keep maybe an A1200D for the sake of classic Amiga hardware nostalgia, and games, and get me a Pegasos II or AOne.
I'd advise Dragster to go to his bank and see if there is any way to cancel payment at this time.
We already spoke privately through PMs and no, it's not Bernd Binder again, but another guy in Germany.

So what I couldnt be taken serious in the past?!!! :-P
Well I just have to say this. I know the Amiga is a big part of a lot of our lives here. Its a great machine. Before I sold my A3000 to x56h34 I wasnt never without one. I have used an Amiga since 1986 when I got my first A1000 and then I got that A3000 and was with it up to a few months ago. I know its hard to move on, but you all need to. The classic hardware is out of dat and its not getting any better. The Amiga One is a great machine, but its not ready for mainstream use like the Pegasos is. Even Eyetech has said it was not meant for public use. Its a dev board and had bugs. I would wait for the Micro or the next board before I got one. The Pegasos can run most everything just fine. ITs fast and it looks awsome. All the hardware works well with the exception of firewire and the gigabit Eternet. I am sure that will come soon though. I paid $800 for a complete system with everything I needed to go. Thats close to what some of you are getting these CSPPC cards for. Heck when my A3000 was parted out after it was sent to x56h3 he got $650 for it! Thats just $150 short of a complete G4 Pegasos! or a complete G3 one!!! Give it a chance. I promice you will not regret purchasing a Pegasos.

Hi again...
I don't think the topic here is why we still keep on the classic amiga side and why we still buy old and expensive hardware for it. That's not the point. I understand people buying pegasos machines and running MOS, I'd like them to understand us "classic amiga diehards". We just want to have our machines up and running, no matter how old they are or how slow they've become. I know many people here can understand this point of view. Anyway, I just wanted to comment 2 things about this person on ebay:
1. He's 15 positive feedbacks now and...
2 One of them has apperaed just yet, and the auction for that item ended the same day as mine. Why did it take this long for the buyer to post the feedback when he's located in Germany too and the shipments within Germany take 2 days to arrive to destination?
Sadly, most seller's in Germany do not accept paypal, and this was the case. What can you do when the seller's not willing to accept anything but wire transfer/bank deposit??
Thanks for your support.. I hope there's a good solution for this.
I'll keep you posted,
best regards,
D.

...because maybe they prefer an Amiga?

Well, really, I guess just be careful, or skip personal transactions from people you don't know, altogether. PayPal is very little, if any help, anyhow. The one time I got frauded through an eBay auction was using PayPal, and I even bought their worthless "insurance." :-P You can still search up the thread on here if you want to read me rant against PayPal. ;-)

Paypal is owned by Ebay.
Maybe its time to give ebay some competition.

@dragster
Have your german friend who made the transfer file a police report against him, include all emails and receipts etc. I'm not sure how effective this will be in germany but I imagine it's your only hope.

This is why I like to buy from the UK. If I get ripped off I can easily get hold of a brick and a train ticket...
-
Well, at least one particular lowlife is going to do some hard time:
Check out this story on The Inquirer. (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16591)
Also includes nice stuff like bank fraud. This guy's not from Germany, though.

In the UK you can also use Nochex ;-)

Hello Folkz, update!!
The guy finally emailed me a few minutes ago, (coincidence?):
Hello,

I have over my brother assign you the card to send.
To the address:
Hamburg, 21079
He dispatched you at 04.06.2004.
He's alive hehe.. and it seems there's no fraud.. but why didn't he tell me??? Geez! I've waited more than 2 weeks..
Anyway, thanks a lot to you all.

on that happy note, i`ll get in a plug for AmiBench (http://amibench.org/)
:-)

Well, giving new life to this thread.. it turns out that the guy has NOT emailed me once again, there's no sign of the board arriving to destination, etc.. I don't know what's happening. He's not replying emails again eventhough he's been very active on ebay lately.
This could be indeed a fraud :-(
