Title: IDE Question
Post by: Clooned on June 14, 2004, 10:16:19 PM
In my A1 I have 1 HD and 1 DVD reader in the first IDE channel  and the CD burner alone in the second one.

I want to buy another HD to install my future AOS4 pre-release  copy and I have one doubt. Is better to have the 2 HDs in the same channel or the 2 HDs as masters in separated channels?

Thank you!

From a logical point of view, it seems better to have the booting harddisc at the first port and set as master ... :-)

The BOOT partition should be on Channel 1 as Master (according to the Elbox/PowerFlyer Gold manual).

Devices set as Master and Slave on any channel will transfer data at the speed of the slower device. This means you'll get better performance if your Hard Drives are on the same channel and slower (CD-ROM, etc) drives are on the other channel.

Cheers,

JaX
