Once apon a time I had a Amiga 3000 rev 9 motherboard running at 16 mhz, 3.9, CD rom drive, ethernet... and all was happy. And then I figured I would work to transfer all the new chips to my Amiga 3000 rev 7 25 mhz motherboard for a little extra speed. No hard drive has worked well on that other motherboard.
I have tried to verify all the jumper settings at...
http://www.l8r.net/technical/t-3000-jumpers.shtml
But not sure I am reading it right. If anyone knows what a rev 7 25 mhz motherboard with the latest Amiga 3000 chips (Ramsey, Denise, etc etc..) should be set at, please do write it here.
Otherwise, what do you think? Should I transfer all back to the Rev 9 motherboard and just be glad it works?
One more quick question... I have a FAT GARY 390540*02 (3990) in this one. If I used an older one would this computer setup work alright?
I realize there are a lot of variables here, but just trying to put together and use the best that I have. I have 3-Amiga 3000's total, all of which I would like to get working. I would like to get this Rev 7 motherboard type working, probably because it was the first Amiga I picked up. :)
Thanks in advance to any advice given,

@Doc
I can't help at all with the technical specs of the different boards and chips etc. I am very envious that you have "THREE" A3000's. I've only got one. The one thing I have learned though, is that old saying about "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." is usually true. Especially for me, I know just enough to be dangerous to myself and my Amiga's, and that usually costs me "Money". :-D :-D Enjoy your Miggies!

Well I think that rev 7 has the ROM tower doesnt it? If thats the case
I seem to remember you need special 3.1 ROMS for that type. This could
be the problem. If it was me building an A3000 all over again (I have
about the best you could do on an A3000 not long ago before selling it
for my Pegasos) I would keep the Rev 9. Its the best the made, and get
yourself a cyberstorm, do the INT_2 mod, a mediator, and a Mirage
tower. That way you can get a good qualiety Ethernet, voodoo 3,
soundblaster, and TV card. You bypass the old CPU with a cyberstorm
and it wont matter any more. You can also put 128MB of RAM on it.

Whoa that does sound good.
I guess right now I have a Amiga 3000 and a Amiga 2000 in front of me, wondering which has the most expansion room. :) But what you mentioned gives me a good idea of what a Amiga 3000 can be.

I dont want to sound stupid, but, what's the INT_2 mod about?
Thanks,

Hi
this patch adds a missing interrupt line to the processor slot:

Then go buy some Ferraris ... ahem, that little lot would cost about the same as a G3 Peg2, why arn't you doing the hard sell?
Right, though, stick with the Rev9 - it's head and shoulders above, even when it comes 12MHz shy! If you got the other two working ok and sold them it'd cover some upgrades, too ;-)
