Title: Hello!
Post by: bitmanmb on June 07, 2004, 06:28:17 PM
Hi,

I'm bitmanmb. For years I have been trying on become an Amiga fan, and at least I bought an A500+ some days ago.

I get it on eBay, just the machine, and PSU, no mouse or software.

I would like to program it.  I have a little knowledge of C and asm for Intel devices.

Anybody can guide me how to startup with this machine?

That depends on how far you want to spend money to it  :-)
For example, your machine has got 1 Mb Chip memory standard and can be expanded by a A500+ Ram expansion to 2 Mb. A dream to play A500 floppy games, really !!
But if you really wanna get serious then you can do the following stuff. Get a pc-mouse-adapter so you can connect almost any pc mouse. Search for a scsi harddrive expansion that you can plug in the port on the left side of your A500+. In such an expansion you can plug up to 8 Mb memory to bring your A500+ to the maximum of 9 Mb, that´s the most you can get by using the original processor. You can also upgrade the whole system by adding a Viper 520 which gives you a 68020 processor and a fully 3,5" IDE port that allows you to add any harddrive and any cdrom ... want more ? There is loads more to add !!!
