Title: OS 3.9 Hiccups
Post by: Holley on June 06, 2004, 07:54:58 PM
As stated in another thread, I've put OS 3.9 on UAE as a trial before doing it for real - I was itching to get started, and can't use the Amiga right now due to house re-arranging :-( (at least my desk is now where it's going to stay!).

Anyway, it's only a basic install so far, but I'm experiencing a couple of hiccups.  I opted for the PL version of AWeb-II, but it doesn't want to see AmiSSL at all (got the latest version), and it won't launch from AmiDock - the icon just flashes, then nothing (starts fine when started in the traditional way).

Anyone got any ideas? :-?

I have no problems starting AWeb from AmiDock. Just drag the icon to AmiDock and save configuration.

If by "the latest version" you refer to AmiSSL V2, then this is the reason why it does not work. IBrowse is yet the only browser which works with AmiSSL V2. You have to use AmiSSL V1 for AWeb. http://www.heightanxiety.com/AmiSSL/

AWeb is not coded to use AmiSSL v2.x, only AmiSSL v1.x or MiamiSSL. I'm hoping the 3.5 version will have this fixed.
AmiDock can be funky at times & this has happened to me on my A4000T, don't know why.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the version of AWeb which is delivered with OS3.9 does not support SSL at all.

ok, that makes sense - I just went and got the latest version of everything I could! BTW I'm using the PL version of AWeb, mainly so I can have more than one copy open, get SSL, and so forth.

Guess I'll just try messing with AmiDock, see if it can be persuaded with saving different configs, resetting and changing back or something ...

Thanks as usual guys :-)

EDIT: erm ok, I went to that link, and it was version 1.1 that I downloaded (along with all the keys).  Could it be because the keys arn't on right? (I wasn't entirely confident about the part where it asked where the keys were)

It was the Keys, it's now asking for AmiTCP for server verification ...
