I am trying to transfer files from my PC to A1200, I have a LapLink Parallel cable and I can't get pc2amiga to work, I think because Im running XP, I've tried adjusting all the settings.
I have read that you can use a terminal program to transfer but I can't get hyperterminal on the PC to use the parallel port it only wants to use a COM port or a TCP/IP stack. I've never used a terminal program before so I'm a bit lost.
Thanks

I think you are out of luck with the parallel cable on Windows XP.
That version doesn't allow an hardware hook true pc2amiga with the parallelport like older Windows versions, so I guess pc2amiga won't work in this situation. That said, I don't know anything about pc2amiga and how it works :-? , but it is a rather old program..
If you want to use a terminal program you'll need to hook up a serial null modem cable, but it is VERY slow (maximum transferrate will be around 10kb/s IF your serial port on the Amiga & PC can handle the 115200 setting.)
You'd be better off getting a pcmcia network card for your Amiga and a cheap PCI network card for your pc and use FTP for filetransfer (obviously you need to setup an FTP server on your pc OR Amiga)

I just noticed this post after i already posted a similar query in another old thread.
I am more or less in the same boat as Twin except i'm wanting to transfer to an Amiga 600 with Workbench 2.05.
Twin i think you should be able to transfer stuff via a Floppy Disk using CrossDos i believe that came with Workbench 3.1

An A600 can also take a PCMCIA network card. I have mine running with AmiTCP 4.0 (demo version) using Cloanto Amiga Explorer and NCFTP to transfer files. I get about 60kB/s but it beats a serial connection. If I can find my old AmiTCP keyfile I'll try AmiTCP 4.3 and see if it's any faster.

Anyone know if Twin Express works under XP?
Of course with a network and a little extra memory you can run Samba and access shared Windows drives directly ... and vica versa ...

It is an old program, DOS with Win9x extensions..
The OP could try userport to enable direct access to the parallel port..
