Hi all Amiga freaks
I have just got me an A4000T and now I have some questions that I hope one of you can answer.
1. Where is the IDE connector placed on the Mother board?
Is it the pinrow next to the Roms ?
2. How mouth dismantling is needed to change HD or inset a CD-rom? Do I have to remove the plastic front to be able to place drives in the lower Drive holders.
There might be more questions coming up, but for now I am a very happy owner of an A4000T.

Where is the IDE connector placed on the Mother board?
It's in the middle, sort of toward the front of the case.
It's the only one with 40 pins.
How mouth dismantling is needed to change HD or inset a CD-rom? Do I have to remove the plastic front to be able to place drives in the lower Drive holders.
You absolutely MUST remove the front plastic cover first.
This is not too difficult - just pry it off with your fingers! ;-)
After that, there isn't much work - just slide them out.
... for now I am a very happy owner of an A4000T.

I've had only one issue with the A4000T I use at work. The stock C= 040 processor card gave us no problems. Then we upgraded to a CS-PPC 060 card. That meant extra weight, different center of gravity, fan vibration, and a SCSI cable running to and from the board. The board simply would not stay properly seated in the long run.
There are solutions to this problem, but each one involves removing the mother board to replace the plastic stand-offs, or to add some straps. Eventually we just put the towner on its side and left it there. That ended our problems. As a bonus, two of the three monitors needed for our Toaster/Flyer fit nicely on the A4000SuperDeskTop.
Hopefully you will not encounter this problem. The A4000T has given great service to us otherwise. Wish I had one at home.

Hi foks, you ware right it wasn’t that difficult, but you know, you down just start ripping it all apart the minute you lay your eyes on the beast.
After putting it back together the mouse doesn’t seam to work properly. The buttons work but the movement doesn’t. I have look at the port board and I have check the connections, but haven’t found anything wrong. Is there some place I should look?

Most likely the mouse isn't getting +5volts if only the buttons work.

That's the first thing I do! Rip it apart and check it out :-D

Check the ribbon cables that lead from the MB to the IO board. I had to replace mine, they seem to pass away over time. Just use standard 3,5" IDE cables and cut off the connector you don't need with a knife.

Ok the trick with the cables did help a bit, now the mouse can move up and down, still missing the sideways movements though. I have checked the cables a dissent times and I cant find any answer here.. Have any of you experienced anything like that?

I have... the mouse refused to go sideways. The joystick worked fine though. After changing the aforementioned cables everything was fine again. If you're really desperate you can always use left-amiga+arrow keys to move the cursor. This also works in the early startup-menu.
