Title: Writing .d64 images back to floppy with a 1020 Amiga drive?
Post by: Dragster on June 01, 2004, 10:22:11 PM
Hi!!

as the subject says, I'm wondering if it's possible to write .d64 image files (disk image files from the commodore 64) back to 5 1/4" amiga 1020 floppy drive. I've seen several tools on aminet but they require you to have a 1541/1571 floppy and an parallel port interface. I want to do the same with my 1020 drive to avoid all that hassle.

Ideas?

Cheers!!

There was a software called Disk-2-Disk that supported reading, writing, and copying 1541/1571 disks with the A1020, but I do not know if it supports D64 images.

There's a demo on Aminet.  http://www.aminet.net/misc/emu/D2D-Demo.lha

There's a utility on the Fairlight Commie page that looks a bit more promising.  But, it requires a slight modification to the drive to use.  It doesn't do any writing, but source is included.   :-)

All you can do is read a disk to D64 format with a tool called "1541".  Just build the cable and use a real 1541 and use the IEC tools, works great.
