Hi guys,
haven't been using Miggy 3-4 years now, but PC doesn't offer that kind of excitement what Amiga did :)
I bought lately brand new CD32 (was still in original shrinkwrap) and loads of games for it. Now looking for new A1200. And when OS4 is out and some soft for it, then A1 will be definitely way to go.
As i've been away for a while from the scene, i'd like to know what software titles are essential for 50mhz '030 A1200 to get most out of it. 060 would not be reasonable buy, while OS4 is gonna be out soon i think (because of the prife of 060). Is 040 gonna work in keyboard case A1200 or heat is too big issue?
I'm planning to put ide buffered interface and 10G+ 2,5" hard drive into A1200 to play old time favorite games (Chaos Engine, Speedball2, Walker, Cannon Fodder, AB3D and countless others) and to watch demos. I'm afraid, it's almost impossible to get hands on commercial soft from 96-99, can't buy it anywhere (web browsers, Miami, Final Writer etc).
Ok, Miggy is gonna be on my computer desk for sure and will stay there no matter what:)

If you buy the software you suggested for your Amiga, and hardware, then whats the point in keeping the PC anyway?
You should consider making the A1200 your main machine until you are satisfied with the state of market for the A1.

Cool dude !! I am almost in the same position. Downstairs I have an AMD1700+ with 1,25 Gb Ram and upstairs I am now typi ng on the Pentium1 150 Mhz Toshiba laptop. Next to me is a naked A1200 that I got a month ago but only yesterday I started to use it. Has been a while for me too ...
Stuff for Amiga ??? Try Ebay first !!! Search worldwide of course !! Have fun !!!
Effy.

Avoid FinalWriter, it is crap and slow on high-end Amigas. I bought FinalWriter 97 and it was great disappointment!
Btw if you are looking for OS4 you can get BPPC. It is relatively cheap and enables OS4 but you can still play your classic games on 68k. BPPC also enables WarpUp/PowerUp demos and games.

@ ruffneck,
Welcome home. 040's get much hotter than the 060's. You may end up leaving the cover loose.

as far as i'm aware OS4 hasnt been confirmed for BPPC, please correct me if i'm wrong but the last i heard OS4 was only scheduled for A1 & CSPPC.
wordworth 7 is okay, but i think i preferred amigawriter.
sure it was b asic, but the interface was more up to date on higher end amigas, and supported the now more or less essential MS Word format.

BPPC version was confirmed in christmas CAM.

I'm in about the same boat. I still have the same old A1200 however, so I just had to dust it off.
I'm using an 040 in a stock 1200 case, but I added a small fan venting out the rear of the case. It keeps the CPU card cool enough to run without any problems.
I still use Final Writer 97, and it seems to run fine on this machine (OS 3.9).
Good luck.....
