This is truely unbelievable! (http://theage.com.au/articles/2004/05/30/1085855437269.html)

It is believed the taunting included comments such as "Yankees go home", "What are you doing in our country" and "What are you doing in Iraq".

And the really stupid thing is those students are just that.. civilaians.  It's not like they are in the military anyway.

I'm personally tired of having to deal with all this hatred toward myself and where I'm from because of that god forsaken monkey in office.  :pissed:

Ok had to let that out now I'll be myself again!

Police brutality is unfortunately not uncommon.  I don't even think I would want to know how corrupt the law enforcement agencies really are, I would just get depressed.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to like that? Bad cops are bad. I don't like the US "cops" kicking Iraqi's around in their own country and I don't like Australian cops abusing US citizens who are in Australia.

OTOH, the Australian cops have every right to be in Australia, but the US "cops" have no legitimacy to be in Iraq.

This is a straight up bad cop story, and that is not an uncommon story as it seems to attract some rum characters who get off on the power. The big story, I suppose, is that the people being abused here are American students and that the taunts involved reference to Iraq.

Let's not forget that the students were not blameless in this, either. This was retributive abuse. If the students had been Australian, and picked a fight with a bunch of off-duties, and the cops had kicked the crap out of them, what would the story be then? Would I still love it? Or is it because they abuse Americans that I am supposed to find the tale so beguiling?

I can guess WHY...

Why? Coz, they give themselves the right to be there!

(They're doing the right thing, anyway)

Yeah, for Haliburton, but not for the US, not for Australia, and not for the Arabs, especially all those who have to live in the Uranium poisoned areas of Iraq and Afghanistan.

And not if they are waging a war on terrorism. Putting out the fire with gasoline? Dumb.

Anyway, I'm kinda hoping for another four years of Bush. That should finish off the US. Not that I really want Russia and China to take over, but what the heck, I'll just hate them when the time comes. :-)

I think "Old Europe" should do quite well in the end.
