Title: Belkin 4 Port DSL / Cable Router
Post by: JurassicCamper on January 20, 2003, 09:58:38 AM
Morning Campers....

Just thought I'd post here my findings about this product.

Does not Work with AmiTCP / Genisis.

May work with the router in Static not DHCP mode... but i have not tested that.

Works with Miami-DX but you have to change the DCHP lease time from forever in the router setup otherwise MiamiDX will error after 60 seconds.
Currently got it set to 2 Hour lease and it works fine.

Excellent broadband router.

IIRC Genesis had problems/didn't work with DHCP. Not sure tho.

I've just bought a  US Robotics Broadband Router and it was a piece of pie to get up and running on the PC.
I'm on the Blueyonder 1Mbit broadband service and they like you to register your network cards MAC address. Simply clice on the 'Clone MAC Address' button and thats it.
Hopefully going to get the Amiga linked up to it soon (as soon as I've run the network cable across the length of the house and up the stairs, without it showing of course.   :-?

Well Genesis isnt going to work with that router in DHCP mode now is it since it doesnt support DHCP. You can add DHCP functionality to genesis by getting the DHCP stuff from aminet but it all looks terribly complicated to me. Personally when I get my router I will have it in static mode, much more well static than messing with DHCP :-)
