Title: Scsi 50 pin to 25 pin converter
Post by: BIG-IRON on May 29, 2004, 06:40:53 AM
anyone used a converter to get a 50 pin down to 25 for an external cd rom player? I see lots of 50 pin cd players but I want to hook it to the external scsi port.

Hi,

I buy from Software Hut. My Yamaha CDRW was supplied with that adaptor. Don't remember the price.

Buy a cable that has the correct connectors on both ends.. DB25 for the computer and centronix / microd50 for the peripheral. Don't forget the termination!

There is a converter / cable available between any types of SCSI connector, google around for online stores.

Or make your own... check the SCSI connectors here: http://www.hardwarebook.net/connector/index.html

@Big-Iron

Those DB25 to 50 pin Centronics cables are common
and easy to find on EBay (also inexpensive, around
$10.00 ballpark).

If it's a newer drive it probably has a high density DB connector, which would render a Centronics cable useless, so check that first...  :-P

I, too, deal with Software Hut - they can supply just about any cable you may need for a fair price. Check their web page at
www.softhut.com
But they have much more than is listed on the web site.

And when looking for this kinda stuff bear in mind that more Apples than Amigas used this kind of connector.

I paid £10 for a new 25-D to Centronix lead about 7 years back, and £5 for a used Contronix to high density centronix lead off of eBay.
