Title: External Scandoubler
Post by: Holley on May 25, 2004, 11:15:47 PM
I spotted this today, figured it might be useful for guys running graphics cards - it's basically a scandoubler/flicker fixer for composite video feeds.  Should work ok with a cheapy console switch like the Belkin ones, if you don't have a VGA passthrough ...

Video -> VGA (http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CPC+Catalogue&category%5Fname=&product%5Fid=254309)

(appologies if you all know about this already ;-))

That's pretty expensive for what you get.  Upscanning the Amiga's composite results in very poor video.  I have a ViewSonic upscan box that works great with my consoles, C64 (S-video), etc.  But the Amiga composite video is barely usable.  The distortion is so bad interlaced modes aren't readable.

I guess for the price of that device you could probably get a used Scan Doubler. :-)

I don't think it would be very nice to hook this thing up if you are an A500 owner. Imagine having to use A520 adapter for composite out, then this. :-o

Fair enough, no harm in asking :-)
